The man in question, HH, had actually gone to the trouble of shopping around until he found the perfect piece of glass with which to create a 'human table'. This was a very hot idea for me. I've always loved the idea of being used for furniture, but it's been tricky to find a way of doing it successfully. I was very happy to discover that it's perfectly possible - though pretty uncomfortable - to serve as a table for ages while Hywel and the Members discussed how best to light the glass... I wandered off in my mind, into a lovely state of sub-space. Objectification turns out to be great for that, not being able to talk makes it extra-easy.... Hywel says: as you can probably tell from the varying light in the photos, this set was an excercise in creating a mood (decadent party...) in a space that wasn't really that suitable for doing it. It was daytime, and the light coming through the white curtains wasn't really conducive to the elegant dinner party mood. The rememdy was to overpower the daylight with some studio flash, which we eventually settled on shooting in from a softbox placed on the floor about level with Ariel. For some reason that felt a bit more "night time" or at least a bit more sultry than the other things we tried. As before, all photos are by the members who attended the tutorial- many thanks for giving us permission to use them, guys! |
