The photos were taken by the tutorial attendees: Satyr, Lau, LJ and Sheep. The inspiration for this idea was from Satyr. Here's how he described the idea: "This will work best (I think) against a plain background. The white infinity set fits my vision best. The model lies on her front (possibly on a mat or skin) facing the camera. She has spreader bars fitted to cuffs at both wrist and ankle. (For this I'm assuming that there's sufficient 'give' in the bars and their fixings for the model to have some movement). The model's knees are bent so that her feet are upwards. One shoe (heel) on properly, the other 'skewed': I'm looking for that 'woman playing with her shoes' effect. Despite the presence of the wrist spreader bar, the model is resting on her elbows. On the floor in front of her is a newspaper turned up to the crossword. She's holding a pen in one hand, and (if there's sufficient 'give') she's twirling a pair of spectacles in the other hand. My original idea was for this to be a nude shot, but it could work with a bikini too if highly coloured. The overall impression is a jokey shot, of a bondage model who's not taking it too seriously despite being a bit tied up (so to speak)." See if you think we succeeded in bringing his idea to life! Technical note: the lighting for this one was a fairly standard set up for shooting in a white infinity cove. Three lights mounted at ceiling level lit the cove, flagged off to prevent the harsh light spilling onto the main floor area and thus onto Ariel. I find aluminium foil works well for creating a spill-killing flag - I've got them clipped to the reflectors, to shade the main floor area. There was a ton of light bouncing off the white cove and white walls, but we wanted to make sure there were sparkles in Ariel's eyes, so we added a small softbox in front of her at about her eye level to make sure. |
