In contrast with the earlier set, this time the blue backlight comes from flash rather than continuous light. The AD100 comes with a nice gel pack and some very low-tech elastic bands to attach them to the flash head. The warm light a gel on an AD200 into an umbrella, and the white light an AD200 in a gridded octobox (which is the one that was liking to overheat). By the end of the set I was more into a rhythm that let the softboxed one stay cool enough to keep shooting.

Hi Everybody,

Hooray! Just back from the last in our spring run of location shoots. We had three days filming in a fantastically quirky house that looked like a 1960's Bond Villain's lair with Ariel Anderssen, Lil Missy and Steve. Then on the way home I snuck in a quick shoot with Bunnie Stevens (because I was literally going past her house with a car full of filming gear so it seemed silly not to!)

Here are some behind the scenes shots for you to enjoy. As always, full sets will be up once I have had chance to process them.

We now have a bit of a break in the location shoots (because the price of hiring these goes through the roof over the high season May-to-September) so I just haave a few shoots at the house for customs over the summer, which gives me chance to catch up on all the editing.

Trainee Agents Cherry and Keira have a few days off from their intensive training course preparing them to act as industrial spies for "The Company". They've decided to hire a place in the country for a few days' walking in the countryside, relaxing, and generally decompressing from the pressure-cooker environment of the training course.

The two of them are just chilling out in the bedroom when they hear a noise - unmistakably, heavy footfalls! The same thought flashed through each of their minds - is this a hit from a rival agency? How would they have known where to find them? Or is it a test from their own trainers, to see how they cope with an unplanned high stress situation? Will their training hold?

They are marched downstairs by the soldiers and ordered to kneel down on the floor, hands above their heads. The men split up to search the house, leaving the Sergeant to watch over the two girls. Clearly, he is not a man to waste any time - he orders them to strip naked! Keira tries to resist, whereas Cherry thinks they should play along, play for time and willingly strips out of her short-sleeved blouse, short skirt and sexy bra and panties. Her only reward for compliance is to be locked with her hands behind her in handcuffs, and to have a red ballgag rudely stuffed into her mouth.

Keira's resistance is short-lived as the Sergeant pulls of her blouse and skirt - no bra! Her panties are soon on the floor and she too is ballgagged and cuffed with her wrists behind her in handcuffs. He goes off to see what his men have discovered, after checking that neither of them was wearing a wire or had anything suspicious in their clothes. Perhaps he might still be in earshot, though, as it seems like he has left the ballgags a little loose. Perhaps this is a test - if they talk they might reveal secrets?

The girls determine that they have no easy escape route, they don't have a hairpin or a way to get out of the cuffs. Perhaps they should call for help? It's a remote chance a they are in the countryside but perhaps a passing walker or a farmer might hear them? After all isn't that what innocent not-spy girls would do?

No sooner has the cry for help echoed around the room that the two are taken down by the soldiers, and tied stretched out naked over the table. This time the gags are properly secured - does that mean the soliders have learned their lesson, or were the loose gags to encourage loose lips? They are left to stew for several hours while the soldiers finish searching the place and securing the area.

Then they are marched back in to be obliged to kneel, hands cuffed behind them, so the Sergeant can begin the interrogation proper.

Adventures in Valhalla - Part Four, Faye in the Stocks

Time to shift gears and switch customers (these stills sets were kindly supported as customs but we'd been given a nice wide choice of what to shoot, because we'd not shot the location before). Faye was going to be in the frame as the sub for most of the rest of the day (and would get her revenge the day after when Chloe was going to be the sub for most of the videos we shot). We pushed the bed out of the way and brought the stocks out to the centre of the studio so we could put Faye's suffering in the spotlight.

If you are eagle-eyed you might notice that not all the lights fire in every shot towards the end of the set. That turns out to be the first drawback of the new lightweight flash system - if you enclose the flash head in a softbox and shoot quickly, the way I'm used to doing to get the model out of the bondage again quickly, the units have a propensity to overheat. Duly noted.

Are you really a photographer? Because you didn't seem very sure setting up those lights. f/2, are you sure? I know it is a big ringlight but there is more to lighting than that. I'd almost suspect this is justa ruse to get me here in stockings and to get to tie me up. I'm not sure you're a proper photographer at all....

Hywel's note: I have very fond memories of this trip. It was the first trip Ariel and I did after all the COVID lockdowns, to a holiday cabin on 45 mins or so from where we live. We were lucky enough to have had each other and a big house during lockdown but it still felt like quite a relief to have somewhere else to explore and shoot. And it was the first trip that we had Gareth to assist us, which is also a landmark of sorts :-)
